What Is Mica Tape?

Mica tape is a high-performance insulation material specifically engineered for environments demanding extreme thermal resistance and electrical safety. It's made from mica paper combined with glass fiber cloth reinforcement and a heat-resistant silicone binder — maintaining exceptional dielectric strength even at extreme temperatures.

Mica tape is primarily used for fire-resistant cables and high-voltage electrical equipment insulation. Every tape is built from three engineered components working together:

  • Mica Paper Core — either phlogopite or muscovite mica, provides the high-temperature dielectric insulation barrier
  • Reinforcement Layer — glass fiber cloth or polyester film, increases mechanical tensile strength for high-speed winding
  • Heat-Resistant Silicone Binder — ensures permanent bonding stability under sustained high-temperature exposure
