Premium phlogopite mica tape with polyimide (PI) film reinforcement — the "gold finger" grade. 750–800°C fire resistance, withstands 90 minutes at 600–1000V without breakdown. Exceptional flexibility, radiation resistance, and chemical stability for HV motors, generators, and critical aerospace insulation.
A premium fire-resistant mica tape built with three engineered layers — combining the high-temperature insulation of phlogopite mica paper with the exceptional mechanical and dielectric properties of polyimide film (known in the industry as "gold finger" material).
PI mica tape is manufactured using high-quality phlogopite mica paper as the base material, with either high-temperature fire-resistant cloth or polyimide (PI) film as the reinforcement layer. The two materials are bonded together with a specialized fire-resistant adhesive, then baked, pressed and precision-slit to specification.
The polyimide film — widely known in the electronics industry as "gold finger" material because of its amber-gold appearance — brings exceptional thermal stability (decomposition temperature above 500°C), excellent dielectric properties, and outstanding radiation resistance. This combination makes PI mica tape the preferred choice for applications where both mechanical flexibility and high-voltage dielectric integrity are critical.
Unlike standard phlogopite mica tapes reinforced only with glass fiber cloth, the PI film variant delivers >7 kV per layer breakdown strength and maintains circuit integrity for 90 minutes at 600–1000V operating conditions — making it ideal for HV motor windings, generators, and mission-critical equipment insulation.
PI mica tape combines the best of both worlds — natural phlogopite's high-temperature performance and synthetic polyimide's premium dielectric and mechanical properties.
Temperature class 750–800°C. Withstands continuous operation at 600–1000V for 90 minutes without breakdown — exceeding standard fire-resistant cable requirements.
Breakdown voltage >7 kV per layer. Provides reliable insulation in high-voltage motor windings, generators, and transformer coils.
Polyimide film delivers tensile strength above 140 MPa. Tape tensile >120 N/cm — impact, puncture, and tear-resistant during high-speed winding.
Excellent softness and bendability — conforms easily to complex coil shapes, motor slots, and tight radius wiring paths without cracking.
Resistant to acids, alkalis, hydrolysis, and corona discharge. Stable performance in humid, oily, and industrially corrosive environments.
Asbestos-free composition. Produces no toxic gases at high temperature. No dust, no airborne particulates — safe for workers and end users.
The addition of polyimide film reinforcement delivers four measurable performance upgrades that matter for high-value applications. Here's what you gain:

PI mica tape is the preferred insulation for applications where both high voltage dielectric integrity AND mechanical flexibility are essential.
Main wall insulation in high-voltage motor windings and generator coils — especially for EV traction motors, industrial drives, and power-plant generators.
Inner fire-barrier layer in high-voltage fire-survival cables — buildings, tunnels, subways, and industrial facilities requiring both fire integrity and voltage rating.
Aircraft and spacecraft wiring harnesses — PI film's radiation resistance and low outgassing make it ideal for high-altitude and space environments.
Inter-cell insulation and busbar wrapping in electric vehicle battery packs. Combines thermal runaway protection with chemical stability.
MRI machine coil insulation, surgical equipment wiring, and high-voltage diagnostic devices where radiation and chemical stability are essential.
Power electronics cooling systems, industrial inverters, and drive control systems where high dielectric strength meets tight space constraints.
